Mar 23 – Great wave day to start the expedition

In spite of a forecast suggesting only weak wave. Paul Jessop and Robin flying Duo Discus “LGC”, came off tow very close to the airfield and climbed rapidly to 14,000′ in wave that produced 7 to 10 knots. A very pleasant surprise. The wave extended West, well beyond Seu d’Urgell, where we turned and had a high speed run East for 100km. The picture shows the Mediterranean coast and the point where the Pyrenees meet the sea.

Mark Peters flying with Mark B also had a nice wave flight in Arcus 4M. As I type this LGC has just reported 15,000′ with the sun somewhat low in the sky. JWD, our K21, also had a couple of local wave and thermal flights with Martin, Roger, Hans and Mark p (again). The picture shows the week one gang just after rigging JWD.
