Dec 14th – Steve’s first 1000km

Reasonable forecast albeit over a narrow area, running N/S. A strong Northerly meant towing all the gliders 2 miles to the end of 36 and a late start. Anyway, we had decided to do a couple of runs in the better conditions which we did and it provided Steve with the magic number. His first 1000km flight.

The second out and return to the South was spectacular with a long cloud street and base now up to 15,000′

The other big event today was Bandar’s departure. We had done some fantastic flying in company with Bandar and John Bally over the past two weeks. All the staff turned out and sang some tribal songs prior to him leaving.
