Nov 19th – Unusual (1000k) Day

There was not much enthusiasm today, with lots of cirrus and strong winds forecast. However, John Bally was keen and left rather early in the blue, we followed about 40 minutes later. We both struggled a bit in the blue particularly around Bitterwasser. We decided to head NE towards some cu, this developed into a marvellous pair of streets taking us to the Botswana border and back. On the return we managed a glide of 168km at 181kph losing no height. This meant that a 1000k was possible. The only problem was that all before us was turning to showers, we managed to work the showers to our advantage now out to the West near Reheboth before a nice developing run SE again gave us the height to achieve another 1000k.

John took this picture just before sunset during the circuit to land.
