Nov 4th – Great first day

Late start due to an overcast morning, then excellent lift to nearly 16,000′. The day gave us 3 hours of fantastic soaring before turning into showers. Managed a respectable 600 km at 135 kph.

After take-off we ran into a thermal at the end of the runway, did a few circles with the engine running, then shut down, continued circling all the way to 12,500′, all within the confines of the farm. Of course Rupert assumes this the norm! but what a start.

In the evening the showers developed into thunderstorms and apart from washing the glider, knocked out the wifi here, hence this delayed blog.
