Very windy in Ouarzazate

My first day in Ouarzazate was greeted with howling winds. The airfield was giving 320/30 gusting 37, and the mountains looked wild with low ragged cu being kicked up by vicious rotor.
The 4 gliders were straining against their tie downs, but safe enough. John needed to test fly the EB29, so an exciting launch and subsequent landing ensued. He said the wind 3000′ above the airfield was over 50 knots.
As I write this the wind has eased a bit and the forecast at least for the next 3 days looks pretty good.

  1. Was Monday any good? Have you landed out in Tamanrasset where there are no InterTubes?
